The 2nd Belt and Road (B&R) Unimpeded Trade Senior Seminar was initiated at the Xiamen Campus of HQU on September 17th, recruiting 54 government officials, business elites, experts and academics from 13 countries, namely China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Pakistan, Poland, America and Micronesia.
The seminar aims to enhance the joint construction countries’ understanding of the B&R construction, especially the new achievements, new problems and new measures of the unimpeded trade, deepen trade and investment cooperation and promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation.
The 6-day seminar invites well-known experts and academics from the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China (NDRC), Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (MOFCOM), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, University of International Business and Economics, Xiamen University and Huaqiao University to lecture on a series of themes concerning unimpeded trade, including China's Opening to the Outside World in the New Era and the B&R Construction, B&RRegional Trade Cooperation from the Asian Perspective, B&R and Free Trade Zone/Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ/PFTZ), the Evolvement of the International Trade Investment Rules, the Problems and Trend of Multilateral Trade System, and China-ASEAN Trade Development and Prospects. Also the students will be visiting the core area of the Maritime Silk Road in Fujian and Xiamen FTZ to experience the development of B&R unimpeded trade.
The current seminar is organized by The Maritime Silk Road Institute (MSRI) of Huaqiao University, guided by NDRC, hosted by the Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China, sponsored by Tanoto Foundation, and supported by the International Silk Road Think Tank Association and Center for China and Globalization.
