On September 19,2017,HuaQiao University participated in organizing“2017 ‘the Belt and Road’Talent Training Program. Zhang Yong (Vice Director of the National Development and Reform Commission),Tan Tianxing (Vice Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council),Chen Jianghe (Chairman of the Singapore’s Royal Golden Eagle Group) and 122 students from 23 countries and regions attended the opening ceremony of the class. Qiu Liguo, Vice Chairman and the Secretary-General of Chinese Language and Culture Education Foundation of China, hosted the opening ceremony.
“The Belt and Road•Unimpeded Trade” Talent Training Program was organized and implemented by The Maritime Silk Road Institute of HuaQiao University. Xu Peiyuan, executive vice president of Maritime Silk Road Institute, attended the opening ceremony. The Maritime Silk Road Institute of HuaQiao University is the earliest established Maritime Silk Road Institute in China. It’s one of leading units of the Belt and Road Think-tank Alliance, and is also an academic highland and important think-tank for the research of the Belt and Road.
The program, taught by leaders of relevant government sectors and famous experts and scholars, aimed to enhance understanding of countries along the Belt and Road and the construction of the Belt and Road and to promote exchange and cooperation by training, communicating and carrying out on-the-spot investigation.

The program included two types: degree classes and short-term seminars. Degree classes included “the Belt and Road” Master class of Chinese law organized by Tsinghua University, short-term seminars included the seminar on facilities connectivity organized by Tsinghua University, the seminar on Financial integration organized by Fudan University, the seminar on unimpeded trade organized by HuaQiao University, and a total of 100 students were trained. In this year, students of degree classes came from 11 countries, including Bangladesh, South Korea,Thailand,America,Canada,Panama,Slovakia,India,Italy,Australia and Russia; students of seminars came from 12 countries, including Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Brunei, Netherlands, Micronesia and China.
