On December 17, 2016,the second High-end Forum for the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, co-hosted by HuaQiao University, China Center for Contemporary World Studies at International Department, Central Committee of CPC, National Institute of International Strategy at Chinese Academy of Social Science and Center for China and Globalization, was held on Xiamen Campus of HuaQiao University. The forum focused on ASEAN and had discussion on the“ASEAN and 21st Maritime Silk Road”.More than 50 people, including politicians, former politicians, famous scholars from countries along MSR, such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, India, Turkey, Australia, etc., and Chinese officials from related departments and committees, scholars and experts, entrepreneurs and representatives of media and think-tanks participated in the discussion and communication.
During the conference, Pochin Polanda, Li Xiangyang, Huang Jing (the director of the Institute of Asia and Globalization of Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at National University of Singapore),Li Chaofen, Sandima Vilakodi, Nikon Varapani, Ramazza Gudeniz and Zhao Kejin (vice president of National Strategy Institute at Tsinghua University) delivered keynote speeches respectively. Participants also conducted in-depth discussion on four topics, namely“ASEAN and the Construction of Maritime Silk Road(MSR)”,“National participation in the Construction of MSR”,“Opportunities and Challenges of the Cooperation of MSR”,“South Asia, South China Sea and the Construction of MSR”.Jia Yimin made a speech at the closing ceremony of the forum.

“The High-end Forum on the 21st Maritime Silk Road”,held by MSRI of HuaQiao University normally, the aim of which is to build a high-level platform for strategic discussion and consensus among experts, politicians, entrepreneurs and senior media personnel from countries along the Maritime Silk Road. The Maritime Silk Road Institute of HuaQiao University would publish The Blue Book on the Construction of 21st Maritime Silk Road and The Research on the Maritime Silk Road, and hold a series of training programs for high-end personnel from countries along the Maritime Silk Road.
